Britney Spears looks fit and healthy as she relaxes on a beach – and shows she is putting her troubles behind her.

The singer appeared rounded and happy in a bikini as she took a much-needed break after a turbulent time when drink and drugs binges led to her being sectioned.

Britney, 26, is on holiday with her father Jamie, staying with Braveheart actor Mel Gibson and his wife Robyn at his £13million ranch in Costa Rica.

Mel and Britney became friends while neighbours in Malibu, California, and it is thought he wants her to join his therapy group to help her battle her problems with drink and drugs.

Britney had been through a period of increasingly erratic behaviour due to her bitter custody battle with her ex-husband Kevin Federline over her sons, Sean Preston, two, and 20-month-old Jayden James.

She famously shaved off her hair, then in January held the boys hostage in a stand-off with authorities at her Los Angeles home.

A psychiatrist is thought to have treated her for bipolar disorder.

But last week, a judge granted her the right to spend three days a week with her sons under supervision.

But, sadly, Britney's troubles are not over.

There are reports a sex tape of her and British photographer Adnan Ghalib, 35, is about to be released.

Joss Stone's steamy lesbian kiss

She tried to avoid too much sauciness in her role as the latest Cadbury's Flake girl.

But judging by this racy picture of her sharing a steamy kiss with a co-star, Joss Stone has taken no such measures in her latest project.

Ironically, given Stone's own clashes with the press, the British film is about an actress who is trying to escape the paparazzi.

She ends up at a local caravan park, where Stone's character - a lesbian bingo-caller - works as a red-coat style entertainer.

There are also some intriguing scenes with an Elton John lookalike which have yet to be explained.

Speaking previously about the role, she said: "I just wanted to challenge myself. There are things in the film that are going to really push the boundaries, and that excites me.

"I can also confirm there will be a long lingering French kiss, but it won't be with a male."

Filming has been taking place in and around Torquay and Paignton this month.

The 20-year-old singer, from Devon, is also producing the soundtrack for the film.

She said: "I am bringing my guys over from America for three months to work with me on the soundtrack and original score.

"I have already started writing songs for Snappers, I have been sleeping with a pad and pen in bed with me for the last three days and I keep jumping out of bed in the middle of the night to jot lyrics down."

The film, which will premiere in September, also stars Caroline Quentin.

They say blondes have more fun, and in Lily Allen's case it is proving true.

The newly fair-haired Smile singer has escaped for a holiday on the French Riviera, where she was spotted frolicking in a water front pool with a group of male companions.

The 23-year-old made the most of the clear blue sky, sunbathing in a tiny bikini, and showing no reservations as she peeled off her top.

The star is staying at the Hotel du Cap Eden-Roc, which sits on the tip of the Cap d'Antibes on the French Riviera between Cannes and Nice.

The exclusive resort is known to draw an A-list crowd - Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes checked in last year to attend the marriage of Australian media mogul and fellow Scientologist James Packer to model Erica Baxter.

Lily is among a stellar crowd flocking to the South of France ahead of the Cannes Film Festival this week including Hollywood heavyweights Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

She is also said to be working on a TV comedy with Gavin & Stacey stars Mathew Horne and James Corden.

Corden, who rumoured to have shared a romance with the singer in recent months, apparently encouraged her foray into sketch writing.

A source told The Sun: "James loves her ideas and shares her sense of humour. He reckons the humour from Lily's first album, 'Alright, Still' will come across on the small screen.

"If they can recreate the laughs they have together at the pub it should be interesting to hear how their stuff turns out."
